This blog is intended to showcase the integration of ServiceNow with infrastructure monitoring tool, Solarwinds. This integration will help to captivate events/alerts from Solarwinds and create incident based on the priorities provided by the tool.

What is Solarwinds?

With its wide range of out of the box monitoring solutions, Solarwinds provide proactive performance and deep visibility of the application and network. One can create their own solution to monitor other applications which aren’t available out of the box. We do have a connector for Solarwinds out of the box. In this blog, we will see pictorial representation of activities from Solarwind tool as well as from ServiceNow.

In Solarwinds Orion:

  6. The pulled alerts will be populated in All Alerts module for every 60 secs (Scheduled in Connector)Event Management -> All Alerts
    Integration of Solarwinds With Servicenow
  7. Confirm whether Alerts are getting converted in Incident or not and assign to the “Assignment Group”.

This will enable users to generate alerts and create incident based on the alerts. By writing Event Rules, Correlation Rules or Alert rules, one can filter the alerts for reduced incident counts which in turn helps in better processing.

As Solarwinds is an infrastructure monitoring it is important that the alerts have incidents so that they can be used to automatically assign to the respective groups and resolve the issues proactively to minimize the application outages.

We are pretty sure that this blog will help to integrate Solarwinds with ServiceNow Event Management. Any comments\suggestions are most welcome. We have posted further blogs as well on other topics and will frequently come back with something innovative.
